Fabric & Material

• The sweater should be made of good natural fibres (e.g., cotton, merino wool, lambswool, cashmere) or a high-quality blend. Natural fibres breathe well, feel nicer on the skin, and tend to perform better. 

• If wool or cashmere is used: the fibres should be fine, long, tightly-spun. This gives softness, durability and less pilling. 

• If cotton: look for premium cotton (long-staple, good weight) rather than very thin, loosely-knit cheap cotton. 

• Avoid or be cautious of heavy reliance on cheap synthetics (100% acrylic, heavy polyester) if you expect quality — they can pill, feel less natural, and wear out faster. 
  
  

  Colour & Appearance

  • White is a demanding colour: the sweater should have a bright, clean white tone (or a subtly off-white if intentional), and the fabric should look uniform (no greyish or yellow tinge unless designed).

  • The material should reflect light in a fine way (not overly shiny in a synthetic way, unless that’s a design choice).

  • The fit should allow the sweater to sit well (on shoulders, sleeves, body) so the white colour and knit are shown off nicely without sagging or distorting.
